Primarily, Pages is used for creating documents like letters, memos, and meeting agenda-type documents. Apple released the first version of Pages back in 2006 alongside Keynote, a presentation slides program, in the first version of the productivity suite called iWork. It also has very robust vector graphics design tools similar to Adobe illustrator.
